滴答。滴答。滴答。
快樂的時間溜得特別快，很圓滿地，我們的engagement shooting大公告成了。

還記得拍攝當天，天氣明顯轉冷，一大清早從酒店看出窗外，期待太陽伯伯快出來。
可是天公不造美，那天沒有蔚藍天空，雲霧很重，斷斷續續的下著綿綿細雨。
我想，蔚藍天空或是翠綠草地都與我無緣了。

幸運地，我找到了優秀的團隊，縱使我沒有美麗的臉沒有優美身段沒有華麗衣飾，但最後構圖依然動人。
這次拍攝過程，實在為我的人生，增添了無限美麗的回憶。
日後，我將拿著這些珍貴的照相片，回顧我倆曾一起走過的歲月。
很想答謝為我整妝的Man Chan和拍攝的Simon，你們太棒，實至名歸。

不知道是否每個人心中都嚮往完美。

還記得第一次跟grace francis 見面的時候，francis 就不停地跟我分享他的各種crazy ideas,越聽越唔對路……我心裡已在想『你有冇搵錯人啊？』……甚麼甚麼要芭蕾舞 X hip hop, war game 啊，Mr. And Mrs. Smiths, band 房打band……Francis 還跟我分享他那條在旺角街頭勁爆求婚youtube 片段……OMG……真係好爆……@_@

最後我真係忍唔住問佢做乜搵我影結婚相，我完全無乜影過你要影ga野,你有冇搵錯攝影師？

“This is the big day that we have been rehearsing in our mind for the past year, all the hard work making all the DIY decoration, photo album,

wedding video, music run down, special wedding surprise, first dance, wedding reception, vow, wedding photographer, are all coming alive.

I arrived at Ms G location and had breakfast with my groom mates, simon, pam pam, ken ken and sing sing had arrived on time, one after another, and the fun started from there with Simon shooting me in the estate with my suitcase, lying on the ground, I felt the passion and excitement when simon is taking the photos and knowing this is going to be a fun long day. We then had some shot with the groom mates, ken is shooting the video about the little solider on the groom and groom mate’s suit as its part of our creation while simon shooting photo with Ms G in the apartment.

The fun was even greater inside the house with the tradition Chinese wedding game with the groom mates, we had lot of fun especially having everyone enjoying it so much. We then arrive the fruit market in Yau Ma Tei, and the reason we wanted to shoot in this location as it is a special place from Hong Kong where it had the tradition, culture and values that is really “Made in Hong Kong”. we love the location so much that we did not even want to leave, a lot of surprises!

the wedding reception in peninsula was spectacular, everything went well according to Ms G’s plan, Mr P surprise was superb touching and need to thanks a million to the help from the peninsula’s staff, Mr P’s groom mates, Ms G’s bridesmaids, our brothers and sisters, Anthony, Rainbow, team of simon.the.photo, it was a fantastic day with a lot of joy, laugh and touching tears mostly from Mr P anyway, surprise!

thank you all so much again for the good memory and be part of this important moment in our life, truly appreciated from the bottom of our heart.

The weather this week is so bad that all pre wedding sessions are postponed. Shooting in rain is always not an easy task. The session of amy and yan yan was definitely one of the most difficult one recently. The rain never stopped, lighting was very flat, and the strong wind made us hold any lighting equipment difficult, if not impossible.

Below are two photos that I love a lot. Both were shot under rain, one in day time, one at light, one by available light, one by flash

this is one of my fav photo of the day – it is the feeling of the intimacy that makes it stand out from the rest of other photos
When we arrived at Shek O, it rained so bad that both Amy and YanYan had to stay in their car. While waiting, I got a new idea of shooting through the windows with rain drops on it. thank MUA mini and Nicole (my assistant) for holding the umbrellas for me, and big thank to amy and Yan Yan for working out this great photo in the small cabinet of their car. Only available light was used, no flash, no reflector, but this is definitely my fav of the day !!!!!

When we have drizzle at light, it is easy to include them in the photo if you put a light (flash) in front of the camera and behind your subject. Two flashes were used, one on Amy from camera right and another one behind her. Angle, power and color of the flashes were the most important factors to considered.

Witnessed by 191 family members and friends, Anderson and I had our wedding ceremony on a sunny day at the Harbour Grand Hong Kong. The ceremony was followed by a lunch banquet and a 30 minutes band show, the whole thing was filled with tears and laughter. Like many other newly-weds, we found our wedding finished so quickly despite the fact that it involved over a year of intensive preparation.

I still remember just one month before our wedding, I had an idea to have a photo wall showcasing our pre-wedding photos by Simon in a creative way. I talked to a few vendors but the ideas they gave me did not fulfill my demands. I finally resorted to my bridesmaid Carol, who is artistic, and asked her to “DIY”. Finally, the photo wall was created totally on her own effort with the assistance from one of our groomsmen, Rockson. Photo foam boards were stuck to the wall by bluetapes only, can you imagine? Everyone was amazed by the end product. Anderson and I were humbled to see people admiring and praising our photos. I know Carol had spent much of her effort in designing the photo wall and making it happen, I could not thank her more.

Another most memorable part of our wedding was our self-performed band show, in which, we played a medley with 12 local pop songs of our choice since the 80 ‘s. Those songs carry our collective memories as they accompanied us to walk through our days since childhood. At the end of the show, we performed our favourite song of Eason – 沙龍, with me being the drummer and Anderson playing the guitar. Simon told us later in the day that he teared a bit while we played this song as he was touched! We were surprised but then we understand that without a strong sense of participation, a photographer could never take good wedding photos like what Simon does. We sincerely dedicate this song to Simon, in which the values of photography are gracefully described.

Every beautiful moment of our wedding still vividly repeats in our mind, and luckily we had Simon to capture all these moments to remember. I am sure the below photos taken on our wedding day are story-telling. I hope you enjoy viewing these photos with us, with profound joy and appreciation.

after the lunch reception, we took a few portraits inside the hotel. we made a crazy decision to go to the roof of the hotel, and luckily, we made it right. What a wonderful sunset of the day !!!!!! I can tell you IT WAS SO ROMANTIC at that moment … … it was a blessing to end the day like this !!!!

With the drizzle outside, I ‘d like to share a sunny and beautiful destination wedding today. I shot the wedding of Phoebe and Julian late last year. With the experience of their  pre-wedding session before , it ‘s so glad to be part of this beautiful wedding and meet them and their families again.

Can’t wait to share the good news to all of you !!!!! My video partner Ken Wong just won two grand awards in the first  Hong Kong Wedding Videography Award last Sunday.

Just one month before the ceremony, we got the news that our two videos were able to enter into the “final 5″ in two categories for professional judge, this was a great surprise to us as there were over 400 videos entered in the contest, and it is a big honor for us to be included in the “final 5″ . Then, one week before the award ceremony, we ‘re invited to join the event, but we didn’t t know the final result. It was so amazing that Ken did won two grand awards finally, I just couldn’t stop screaming at the ceremony when the MC announced Ken ‘s name at the presentation of the gold award !!!!

The two awards we got are:

One of the most amazing things about this competition is that all the judges are from professional film directors (Clifton Ko 高志森, Lee Lik-chi 李力持, 麥曦茵 Heiward Mak), it is interesting to know how people outside the wedding industry view our works.

We were very much looking forward to our pre-wedding shoot with our favourite photographer, and were disappointed when we had to cancel it due to weather conditions on the first scheduled date. We ended up having to wait for two more months, but it was all worth it. The sun brought wonderful colours to the photos and it was great seeing Simon get so excited with the lighting. We took Simon to locations which were special to us – Parkview (where we met and grew up) and the high school we attended. Then we went to Mount Davis for some sunset photos and Star Ferry for shots of the classic Hong Kong skyline.

We cannot remember the number of slopes and stairs we went up and down that day. It was a day full of exercise for everyone and we are extremely grateful to Simon, Simon ‘s assistant – Siu B and Ed (Carrie’s makeup artist) for all their hard work. Many thanks Simon for your tireless efforts in taking the best photos for us. We were very impressed with every shot you showed us. You are truly an exceptional photographer.

my fav shot of the day. this was a surprising moment …. …. my original plan was just carrie and stephen lying on the playground of their high school, and I was shooting from 10th floor above. Suddenly, a group of students (playing ruby) ran close to them (they ‘re so focused on their game that they almost stepped on them). There was nothing I could control and it was a split second moment that I captured 2 shots and this is the best shot in terms of the position of the students.

A beautiful sunny day and perfect for photo shooting! The locations chosen were not unique – Soho, Stanley market (which was where we became engaged), Tai Tam and the Peak. Chloe had chosen a dress from LM and we were assisted by Candy throughout the day for the make-ups. We were both very excited before the photo shooting and only slept for a few hours before the day!

We really felt Simon’s passion throughout the shooting. One moment that really shocked us was when he suddenly lied belly flat on the walking pathway of Hollywood Road near Lang Kwai Fong taking photo of Chloe’s shoes, while there were cars steaming by us! The one thing that we most enjoyed working with Simon was that every time when he thought he took a good shot (actually we were sure every shot taken by him was perfect), he would immediately show the shot to us, with a huge smile on his face just like child! It is very rare nowadays to find someone so passionate with their job, and his passion overwhelmed us throughout the whole day. We were touched.

Thank you for capturing these wonderful moments for us. We can’t wait to repeat this experience again on our Wedding Day!

virginia and daniel, one of my fav wedding last season.  Again, I shot alone on the day without 2nd photographer, which gave me more freedom of the day. Having said that, don’t get me wrong, even though I love working alone, every wedding is unique and some weddings definitely require 2nd photographer for handling all the formal shots requests.

My fav shot of the day. It’s a first dance photo, I always tell my clients that dance photos are the most difficult shots to take on a wedding day. Lighting is always very dim if not completely darkness, even there are spot lights at the venue, they are usually unpredictable in terms of ligh intensity, color, or how the hotel staff operates them.  What makes it even more difficult is that you can never stage or setup dancing shots (that means you can’t ask the couple to hold or do it again, anyway, I hate taking staged shots).

I like this shot, it has very good timing, composition, and lighting. There ‘re three layers ….. the bride and groom, the parents,and the DJ in the background. Virginia and Daniel ‘re positioned one third of the photos that showed their importance. And the three layers also allow you to flow the focus from the couple to their parents and then to the DJ. While virginia closed her eyes and enjoyed the moment with daniel, the way that the parents looked at them gives a sense of connection between them. At the same time, the DJ behind worked very hard and it helps completing the whole story of this photo.

I had taken three photos of this particular shots and this one stands out with the best capture of the moment.

In terms of lighting, three off camera flashes were used, their locations, power, color were all planned carefully beforehand. The one thing I don’t like is the light on parents is too strong, though it can be fixed easily in post possessing.

the lighting of the ceremony was very challenging. the ceremony was supposed to be started at 5:00, but  somehow it was delayed to 5:45 pm. light was dim and the whole venue was under the shadow of the hotel, which gave you  a very blue tone. What made it more challenging, the yellow venue flood lights were on and it gave us a mixed light to work with (blue available light with yellow tungsten flood light)

lily and charles, one of my fav wedding – a small but beautiful wedding – which is my most favourite style of works in my portfolio. Nothing rush, people ‘re friendly and I am the only photographer, no 2nd photographer running around.

my answer is:

having more programs on your wedding day doesn’t mean you ‘ll have more beautiful photos. do you think you can relax and enjoy when your wedding day rundown is fully packed, I have seen so many couple that are completely exhausted even before the banquet because of the non-stop rundown. I always found that my most beautiful photos are always taken in those simple, but warm wedding

less is more, something that stephanie and alan aimed for. No game, no tea ceremony, we even didn’t have a chance to meet alan and his groomsmen before the ceremony. Everything happened inside the hotel, no travelling around and no rush at all. Having said that, with such a simple arrangement, I found that everyone was so relaxed and enjoyed the wedding a lot!  And there ‘s  more touching and beautiful moments !!!!

After 5 years, ada, talent development executive of Ogilvy Public Relation, and kevin, now the agency’s digital strategy manager, married last month at the HKCEC. As kevin said, ada is always a happy, creative and positive person, and it was truly reflected from all the details of their wedding – the bright and vivid color theme, the wedding montage, the colorful candy corner, the funny photo corner (click here to have a look of the photo corner), and last but not least, her hip-hop performance in the banquet, everything was just awesome! !!!!

Our schedule in the afternoon was very flexible, instead of going outdoor for location shooting, ada decided going back to their office, what a great idea!!!!! Nothing better than taking wedding photos at where they met each other and fell in love.

my fav of the day. it was taken at the stanley military cemetery – one of the most popular photo location for my clients. Even after taking photos there over hundreds times, I still love this location a lot, and I was completely fascinated by the ever changing scene there. The view was different every time I went there because of the diffenence of time, weather, seasons.

I think all my clients are smart enough to tell if a photo is posed or captured in a candid way, aren’t they? Yes, I do pose my clients when I am taking portraits of them as I need to do the best for the brides and make sure they look absolutely gorgeous in my photos. However, for wedding day photos, I just hate staged or setup shots. IMHO, touching moments are everywhere in a wedding, you just need to have a correct mind set, experience and technique to “SEE AND CAPTURE” it.  On the other hand, if a photographer just tried to create (or even setup)  the moments  all the time, with this mind set, he (or she) will never see the real touching moment, or even he see it, he will miss that shot, or capture it with wrong composition, wrong lighting, wrong angle. What is worse … … his photos will  turns out very similar (or boring, from my perspective) for the different wedding because he tried to create similar shots in every wedding.

Having said all that, back to peggy and raymond. “love is everywhere” – this is how I describe their wedding.

my fav of the day, and it ‘s one of the most challenging.
the view here was so nice that I chose to use a wide angle lens to capture the view, at the same time, I still tried  to make sure that kristy was the focus of the photo – we could still see her beautiful smile, sexy pose and nice details of her dress.

in terms of lighting, it was quite challenging here. There ‘re three sides of windows, the middle and the right windows ‘re facing outside of the building so  it was illuminated by available light, while the left side windows ‘re facing the interior of the club with no light at all. I had put two flashes behind the left windows to give them some light. color of the flashes for kristy and for the windows ‘re carefully chosen that all windows light turned out blue in this photo and it matched the color of the dress perfectly

stop one: we started the shooting at home in the morning, all photos are taken by available light only.

I find it difficult to include pets in wedding photos, especially doggies that keep on running and running around.

HATE: it is so hot now and it ‘s really very tough shooting pre-wedding outdoor, not to mention, the humidity and mosquito … … In addition, there is less wedding (that means less business) in the summer time because of the raining and typhoon weather .. … that ‘s why so many photographers organizing oversea pre-wedding tour during this period … …

LOVE: it is the perfect time for me to take pre wedding photo at the beach. shooting photos with your feet in the cool sea water is just a joy. I feel so excited and get inspired if the client loves to have photos on the beach, and I really don’t care if my camera or lens get dirty or damaged with the salty water or the sand. Of course,  I don’t need you to take off the top and get into the water like christie and raymond did in their pre-wedding session, but as least, please take off your shoes and put your feet into the water.
