For me, wedding day photos are about capturing the moments. As a professional wedding photographer, we need to focus, observe, and capture all the moments in a beautiful and artistic way.
It’s a shame that lots of young and inexperienced wedding photographers nowadays treat wedding day just as another prewedding session. Instead of capturing real moment, they don’t bother to observe and just set up or create all the scenes instead. As a result, their photos just look the same in all their weddings works and all we can see are fake moments.

If you ‘ve followed my blog for a period of time, you should know that I like to take photos on beach. Working on beach is always a joyful and exciting experience and the resulting photos are always my favorite. Having said that, because of the rainly and cold weather in last two months, my clients seldom choose it for prewedding photo location in last season. So when emily decided to go to beach, I was looking forward to it very much, and after discussing with her regarding the photo style she likes, I was glad that the style she likes is exactly what I like.

you may not believe it……. While every photographer does oversea pre wedding tour in last few years, I have never done any oversea pre wedding session before ( though I did some destination weddings every year)
With this background in mind, when michaelia hired me to take her oversea photos without seeing any oversea portfolio from me, I ‘d like to give a big thanks to her trust and support.
Then, here comes the challenge, as I always said location is the least important component in my photo style, it becomes a challenge for me to maintain my style while giving a sense or feel of “OVERSEA” in this assignment.

We were very much looking forward to our pre-wedding shoot with our favourite photographer, and were disappointed when we had to cancel it due to weather conditions on the first scheduled date. We ended up having to wait for two more months, but it was all worth it. The sun brought wonderful colours to the photos and it was great seeing Simon get so excited with the lighting. We took Simon to locations which were special to us – Parkview (where we met and grew up) and the high school we attended. Then we went to Mount Davis for some sunset photos and Star Ferry for shots of the classic Hong Kong [......]

I just found that I didn’t write about any pre-wedding/engagement photo session for a long long time. My last write up of pre-wedding session was Aug last year already ………
Anyway, just came up a new idea for all my clients, you ‘re welcome to contribute “Guest Post” to my blog here – you can write anything you like about your photo session or anything you ‘d like to share about your wedding. I believe all my blog readers will be very eager to see more client sharing here. At the same time, it also helps me a lot to post your photos faster here. isn’t it cool
here is the first guest post from chloe and felix !!!!

sneak peek of plest and edward ‘s engagement session
my fav of the day. it was taken at the stanley military cemetery – one of the most popular photo location for my clients. Even after taking photos there over hundreds times, I still love this location a lot, and I was completely fascinated by the ever changing scene there. The view was different every time I went there because of the diffenence of time, weather, seasons.
locations: inspiration lake, the peak, stanley market, stanley military cemetery

there is always a “love and hate” relationship with summer time for wedding photographer.
HATE: it is so hot now and it ‘s really very tough shooting pre-wedding outdoor, not to mention, the humidity and mosquito … … In addition, there is less wedding (that means less business) in the summer time because of the raining and typhoon weather .. … that ‘s why so many photographers organizing oversea pre-wedding tour during this period … …
LOVE: it is the perfect time for me to take pre wedding photo at the beach. shooting photos with your feet in the cool sea water is just a joy. I feel so excited and get inspired if the client loves to have photos on the beach, and I really don’t care if my camera or lens get dirty or damaged with the salty water or the sand. Of course, I don’t need you [......]

In last two weeks, I was contacted by several wedding magazines for interview regarding my opinion on oversea pre wedding. So guess what? I turned down all these interviews finally. why? Oversea pre wedding is getting more and more popular in last two years, it’s so popular that it starts to become a COMMODITY. However, if you ‘ve followed my blog for a while, you may notice that I didn’t do any oversea pre-wedding session in last two years. As I always tell my client — first, location is the least important element in my photo, second, there are so many places in Hong Kong that are so beautiful, together with the additional time and money required for oversea job, I much prefer staying in hk for pre wedding.
I feel glad (and lucky) that there are still so many clients that love having pre-wedding photos in Hong Kong and always [......]
