e-session of karen and william

I  got a lot of emails like this recently … …

“ Hi Simon, why didn’t you upload our photos onto your blog, is there any problem? Is our photo not good enough?”

I feel so sorry when I see clients so eager to see their photos on my blog. I am in fact very very behind updating the blog in last three months, I dare not to count how many shootings that I didn’t blog.

What keeps me so busy? Other than shooting, most of my time are spent on editing photos & creating albums, and I ‘d like to make sure I can deliver the photos to you within the agreed time frame (8-10 weeks)

there are also a lot of emails like these

“ we are going to visit my family in UK (or xxx) in X’mas, can we have the photos ready before?”

“ Our family is going to visit us in X’mas, can we … … ?

“ Our wedding is in Dec, can I have the album ready before? “

“ Our parents are asking our photos everyday, can we … …?”

“ can we have a few photos to prepare the invitation ?”

“ can we have a few photos to prepare the reception backdrop ?”

So I am working very very hard to meet your deadline, it is almost impossible to update every wedding on the blog.

However, don’t worry about the quality, all your photos are gorgeous, and all of you look perfect in the photos, I just don’t have enough time to update the blog.

Having said that, something you may or may not know,

i) I stopped taking any new order for 2008 since June 2008

ii) I stopped meeting new clients (that means I am turning most of the new clients away) since Oct 2008, this gives me more time working on existing clients.

iii) I am evaluating several photo retouching companies right now, once confirmed, that will help a lot.

OK, back to Karen and William ‘s e-session. We went to Shek O in the morning – I love going to the beach in the morning – it was so quiet there. Of cause, we had to deal with the harsh and overhead sunlight at this period of time.

date: 10 oct 2008
locations: Shek O, the Peak, pak nai, central (night shoot)
make up artist: Louisa (tel: 91941261)

the wave was so big in Shek O in last two months. It was so easy to get completely wet … … luckily, most of clients love to get wet !!!!

" i don’t need hands to hold her heart " …. …..

thanks God. Pls forward this to everyone you know

wedding of nicole and allan

a very common conversation with most of the clients

“we are so shy in front of the camera, we don’t know how to pose,  and my fiancé doesn’t like taking photo, we ‘re so worry that we can’t have any good photo”, say the bride

“don’t worry, 9 out of 10 couple are shy in front of the camera. If you can relax, enjoy the day, enjoy the moment, it is not difficult for me to take good photo of you two.” say Simon. I believe all wedding photographers ‘d agree on that.

However, for nicole and allan, they are just the “1 out of 10”. Both Ken and I found that we can take good pic/video of them anytime, anywhere on the day. In fact, they are the first couple that eats up all my memory cards (a total of over 50GB CF card) in one day !!!!!

simon.the.photo X arron willcox
- wedding of ida and errol

This is definitely one of my fav wedding in Sept !!!! Not only I had a wonderful couple, wonderful wedding party, but a chance to work with a US award winning wedding photographer as well.

arron is a WPJA award winning wedding photographer from California and came to Hong Kong to shoot the wedding of Catherine and Kevin here. I got to know him because he hired me to second shoot with him for this wedding. (Sorry, I can’t post any photos of this wedding here … …) As he stayed in Hong Kong for a few days, I invited him to help shooting in one of my wedding, and it ‘s so inspiring to see a foreigner shooting a local Chinese wedding.

date: sept 27, 2008
ROM: wedding registry at Hong Kong City Hall
BBQ reception: Royal View Hotel

one of my fav of the day.
It ‘s very difficult to take photo in the cross Harbour tunnel, not to mention a wedding photo inside.
ida and errol hired an open top double deck bus for their transportation, and that ‘s why I got a chance to take this photo inside

e-session of vivian and roger

date: oct 27, 2008
location: home, central, shek O, peak (night shot)
makeup artist: Gracy of JustGracy

this is an very interesting session, why?

if you had followed my blog for a long time, you may know I am a bride (or woman) photographer, over 70% of my photos on a wedding day are focused on the bride, and I never put a groom “solo photo” as the 1st photo on my blog.

Here is the exception, Roger ‘s such a cool guy that he gave me a lot of inspiration (and flexibility) in their e-session.

When we walked around in Central, we started to discussed what sports roger plays. “football and basketball,” answered Roger. When I saw this wall, I suddenly had a strange idea in my mind and I asked, “can you walk and run like Spiderman on this wall ?”
That’s how I got this stunning photo of Roger !!!!

Hey, wait !! Vivian could do something extraordinary as well !!!!!

last wedding in Oct
- iris and sunny

iris and sunny ‘s wedding marked the finish of October – a very very busy month, lots of wedding and pre-wedding sessions … …

Iris and Sunny already married in Guam a few day ago, so the day should be very relax … … however, I was requested to arrive at the hotel at 7:00am in the morning.

On arrival at the hotel,

I asked “Iris, why do you have to start so early? The whole afternoon is free …”,
Iris said, “it ‘s because of you … … I like to have more time for you to take photo of me”

It ‘s so encouraging to hear this, but at the same time, I feel that my clients are having higher and higher expectations of my works.

date: 30 Oct, 2008
reception: grand stanford inter-continental hotel
