So busy in last two months … … I tried to update the blog with every wedding and e-sessions I had, but I found it very difficult with the busy schedule … … Other than shooting, I spend most of the time on retouching works and hope to finish the work on time for each client.
Just a few updates:
1) because of the busy schedule, I can’t meet any new client before Dec, I am giving priority to my existing client first
2) Shulin is growing very fast, I even found that she can be looked and behaved a little different if I didn’t see her much after having2-3 days’ shooting. I have already scheduled a photo session with Claudia (playground photography) end of Nov to take photo of Shulin and me. So looking forward to it.
3) there are so many interesting shootings in last few weeks, a lot of new concept ‘re tried. I also had a change to work with another award winning wedding photographer from US, it ‘was so inspiring to see him working in our local Chinese wedding. Stay tuned, more update on blog very soon.
OK, back to the wedding last Sunday – Irene and Alexis. They had a two-day wedding – and we only had the ceremony on day one, so we had plenty of time taking portrait of them. Irene is a piano teacher, in fact, I met her in some weddings before in which she played piano in the reception. Alexis is a very busy IT person, always flying around the world, I only had chance to meet him 1 week before the wedding.
look forward to their wedding (day two) on coming Friday.
When I found that we could establish a fan page on facebook, I created one just for fun in July, and I never thought that I could have a “fan” … …
It ‘s so amazing that my facebook page have over 430 fans after two months (as of today), this is such a big number that I don’t think I deserve it.
Talking about fan, I ‘d love to introduce Natalie and Arthur, they are definitely the No. fan 1 of me. When I had their e-session last month, I found out that Natalie has a collections of photos from this blog. She downloaded her favorite images (with comments and notes), print them out and put them in a very organized box file. With such a couple that loves my photos so much, it gave me lot of energy and inspiration on their photo day
date: 18 sept, 2008 locations: Wetland Park, Shek O, Central (night photo)
my fav photo of the day – it ‘s 7:00 pm and the sky was almost completely dark. Thanks Natalie and Arthur for their willingness to stay so late on the beach to make it happen. And thank you my assistant Canly for helping on the lighting, she didn’t plan to get into the water, but she was willing to get completely wet finally (even she didn’t have any extra clothes to change) !!!!

My another wedding during the mid-autumn festival. As you can see from the photos and video below, both Joyce and Wilson have big families and big group of friends celebrating with them … …. the day was full of laughter and tears.
love this moment. Joyce has a big group of cousins, they ‘re singing a lovely song (and dancing) to Joyce. You can imagine that Joyce couldn’t stop crying … …
same day video edit
filming and editing by Ken of Simon.The.Photo
We had a little problem playing the video that night, there was some hang up at the last 30 sec. We believe it ‘s caused by the bad burning of the DVD media. I talked about it here because, first, I ‘d like to thank Joyce and Wilson for their forgiveness of our mistake, second, I don’t like to hide my mistake, and just let everyone know, Simon and my team made mistake, we are not perfect, but we ‘ll learn from it and keep on improving ourselves, trust me !!

since a few years ago, there was a trend of couple in Hong Kong going to Taiwan to have their pre-wedding photos. I believe people got bored with the Taiwanese style in last two years, and people started to go further and further away – not only China, Japan, SE Asia, going to Europe (even East Europe) is not uncommon nowadays.
I can imagine going a place in Europe is so romantic, no one knows you, having a long holiday, no phone call, forget all about your daily business – these are all very critical for having a very memorable pre-wedding photo session.
Having said that, I think there are still many interesting locations in Hong Kong that are very good for photo session, and most importantly, location is not an major consideration for my style of photography. When I meet my clients, I always tell them that the people inside a photo is the most important element for me, then comes 2nd to lighting — I never care about the location.
OK, back to our couple, Karen and Benedict. They came from Singapore to have their photos session in Hong Kong. When I met them a few days before the photo day, I understand that they ‘d like to go to places that people can tell it is “Hong Kong”, so don’t expect to see any country side, sea side, beach, sunset shot below … …
date: 18 Aug, 2008 locations: Chuk Shek Estate ( 秦石村 ), University of Hong Kong, Central, the Peak
my fav of the day. When we ‘re walking around in Central, we passed this shop of party accessories on the street. I asked the sales lady if I could borrow some of their cosmetics hair to take a few photos, surprisingly, the answer is “yes, go ahead and enjoy !!!”
