she is maggie

from the first time I met maggie, I was looking forward to this portrait session, what a beautiful bride !!!!

the more I worked with maggie on the day, the more I knew her. Not only she is beautiful, gorgeous, but she is a very very nice girl as well.

Thanks maggie for letting me post this set of of photos here, though something really bad happened after the photo session and it is really hurting her heart.

maggie, you ‘re stronger than I believe. Wish you a happy life forever and look forward to be your photographer on your real wedding day in the future!!!!

this photo session was done in Macau. It was almost 5 years ago since I last visited Macau, though I went there a lot when I worked in my previous IT company. The place changed a lot and lots of new things (but very crowded now on the other hand)

Thanks everyone giving me suggestions of where to go on my facebook fans page, and especially thanks to eddie for coming to Tai Po to give me a Macau photo book. But finally, we went no where but the 主教山小堂 Chapel on Penha Hill, and most of the time we just stayed and walked around in the hotel. So don’t expect to see any Macau scenic photo this time. Anyway, when you already have such a beautiful bride in front of the camera, we don’t need anything else.

fav photo of the day. taken at the hotel Venetian. when I asked maggie to play with the veil, there was a sudden breeze – then it stopped. this is the only photo I got in this split second moment

anther fav of the day. This is a kind of light painting shot, we tried 4-5 times before we could get it.
camera was set on tripod, with all lights in the room switched off. Set the camera in B mode, then I used a light torch to “paint” this photo. maggie had to hold still during the process (great job !!!!)

I like this photo session
- clara ‘s portrait

Always love taking photos without pressure. Love to be the portrait photographer of clara. We didn’t have any plan on the day – no specific location, no specific photo or style – just shot whatever I like, and walked around in central. There ‘s so much fun on the day, and sometimes creativity and surprise ‘d follow under this situation.

makeup artist: JustGracy

we started the session at Gracy ‘s new studio. When I saw the steel mat (or plate) on the floor, I believed there ‘s potential of making great photo out of it. Thanks for everyone for working this out, though it ‘was quite awful that everyone lying on the floor at the door. (You can click here to see the behind the scene photo). And thank gracy for sharing your studio with us (but sorry for making a scratch on your newly made makeup table)

model portrait session – JustGracy

I seldom do commercial shooting as I am not keen on working with models. I love to work with ‘real people’ in weddings and always find lots of joy in weddings.

But when I know my friend gracy of JustGracy was going to have a new series of advertisement and portfolio, I don’t have any hesitation to be part of this project.

Before the shooting, we discuss on the style and both of us like to have a clean and simple style of big head shots. It is always a challenge to do big head shots as it requires more detailed lighting setup, but I like the results a lot.

We had lots of fun on the day, with 3 models, 3 makeup artists, with lots of different lighting setups. Non-stop shooting from 1100-1900, awesome!!!

Here are some of fav shots of the day, and any comment is welcome.

Just came back from Shek O. Today I shot the portrait of James,  for his bar mitzvah in March. I shot the bar mitzvah of Robert (James ’s brother) in 2006 and I have been waiting for James ’s turn for a long long time.

As James is a rugby lover, we planned to take photos of him playing it on the beach.

Look forward to the part II (the party) in March !!!!

he looks great, doesn’t he?

A beautiful bride-to-be: Czarina

Czarina is getting married in Dec 2006 at Four Seasons Hotel, this is another referral from a wedding last year (Rebecca & Jeffrey).

While a lot of my clients have engagement shooting before the wedding, Czarina, instead, decided to do a photo shooting with her family. This is a good idea, in fact, I wish I had done the same thing with my family when I was young.

Czarina is so pretty that you can take good picture of her no matter what angle you shoot. Her family is very nice and they are all camera friendly !!

Relaxed portrait for Success Magazine
– Rita

I was hired by a US magazine to do a portrait for an interview of Rita Hui in Hong Kong. The magazine looked for more relaxed portrait rather than those studio shots.

Rita is a charming and successful lady. Before joining the USANA Company three and half ago, she worked in the wedding, fashion and image consultation industry. Now, she is the only "7 STAR DIAMOND DIRECTOR"  of USANA worldwide (the highest is 8 STAR).

Rita doesn’t like studio shot neither. We decided to take the portrait in shopping mall, polo shop (with their approval) and SOHO area. It is really a fun experience.

As the magazine has the "1st right" of publication, I can’t upload any of the portrait here before the magazine is published. To learn more about Rita and why she is so successful, you can visit her personal website here

My first non-wedding assignment

Today I shooted my first non-wedding assignment. Normally, I don’t do any non-wedding event as I don’t feel the passion of it. I met Fiona back in Jan, and she ’s planning to host a Barmitzvah (???) party for his 12-years old son (Robert). I learned that Barmitzvah party is a fun event to shoot and confirmed to be her photographer.

We shooted a portrait session for Robert today at the Peak, the photos will be used as the guestbook for the party. I had a great time with Fiona ’s family, and Robert is such a handsome boy that it is so easy to take photos for him.

I am already looking forward to their Barmitzah party on 21 May, 2006.
