Yesterday is the wedding of Catherine and Stephen at Repulse Bay. The wedding was wonderful, full of touching moments. I had great time with the couple and their families
This ’s a special moment should not be forgotten – Catherine ’s waiting alone outside the ceremony area and out of sight of all the guests and Stephen. She started crying and this picture ’s captured forever in the camera.

In the wedding of Catherine & Stephen yesterday, there was an accident. It was so careless of me that I dropped my Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8 IS lens to the ground from the top of a piano (I believe it was over 1 meter) . After that, I stopped using it in the banquet and I am afraid there may be problem in the optics.
The 1st thing I woke up this morning was putting up the lens and taking some test shot outside the window. It was 5:45 am in the morning, and the sun was rising in front of me … … What a beautiful view !!!
It seems that the lens is OK, but I ‘ll take it back to Canon for checking on Monday.
(update 27 June, 2006) Canon staff called me this morning, and told me everything is OK. Just need to replace the hotshoe of the flash.

It ’s amazing !! I got an email from Wedding ESDLife last month and I was contacted by their web editor Florence Lam. They ‘re going to have a new version of web content coming out on 1st June and they ‘d like to select a few wedding photographers in HK to be featured in the new web. The interview was done in their office, Florence is a very nice girl , and the meeting went very well.
I am happy to say that ESDLife just added the interview on the web today! I still can’t believe they picked me as their featured wedding photographer, I feel undeserving as there are so many other talented photographers out there in HK, and I still have a lot to learn. When I woke up this morning, the weather ’s very bad again (after 4 weeks of raining). But the weather yesterday was so good that it ’s perfect for an outdoor wedding — which was what Helen & Alan doing in Repulse Bay.
After greeting the guests for over 1 hr. at the open area, all the guests had entered
the Verandah Room (Banquet area) and leaving Helen & Alan alone outside.
Are they excited or tired after the reception. Who knows?
I just love this moment, only two of them, a very quiet moment …. ….

Early this year, Xandra and I (with two of our friends - Chloe and Olive, together with Ann and Pierre who are living there) went to Island Reunion & Mauritius for holiday. This was an amazing trip - we had volcano climbing, hiking, swimming, driving … … I shot over 2,000 photos in two weeks, the scenes ‘re magnificent — we had sun set, sun rise, rainbow on the sea (a really big one) … …. Four months gone, but I am still too busy with photos of my clients and have no time to manage photos of my own. Finally, Xandra can ‘t wait any more, and ask me to teach her how to do a web slideshow. Today, she completed her 1st slideshow, please click the following link to run the slideshow (prepare to turn on the volume of your computer, she chose a good music from David Tao).
This photo was taken at the top of Volcano. We started to climb at 0300 and reached there at 0530. Just enough time to capture the "moment" before the sun rise. BTW, the white dots are not dust or dead spot on your monitor, they ‘re stars

I am writing this blog in a café. I met Fiona today to present the finished photos to her. When she browsed through the pictures, she started to cry when she saw those photos in which Robert was giving his speech.
When clients love my work and the pictures recall their memories, this is the kind of job satisfaction that I couldn’t get in my previous job. I believe I made the right decision to become a photographer in the middle of my life. It is not just money, it is about helping people to crystallize their good memories.
I am already looking forward to James ‘ barmitzvah in March 2008 !!!
Robert ’s giving his speech and Fiona started to cry that night.

When I meet my clients, I always ask what kind and style of wedding pictures do they like most. "Natural" & "Ability of capturing the happy moments" are the most commonly heard answers. I believe these two elements are the most basic requirements for today’s contemporary wedding photography. But what makes a wedding pictures excellent, not just basic/ordinary?
WPJA holds wedding pictures contest once every three months and they invited some the most prestigious photographers to be the contest judges. I received a email from WPJA a few days ago, one of the judges (Dan Habib) explained how he views the contest pictures and how an excellent wedding picture set apart from the others. Dan Habib has been the photography editor of the Concord Monitor since 1995, where he was a staff photographer from 1988-1992.

I agree that "Originality" is the biggest challenge. Every wedding is unique and so is the picture. This is the responsibility of the wedding photographer to find out somethings unique in the wedding. In order to have this "originality", a wedding photographer needs to keep alert whole day, and focuses on everything happening around the wedding couple. This is not an easy task, I am still learning. People sometimes don’t understand that, after a day’s work, not only a wedding photographer feels so tired on the body, but also on the eyes and mind as well.

Though the weather was not very nice yesterday, Emily & Andrew sticked with the plan to have the engagement shooting. Having said that, Emily & Andrew are such a sweet couple and the bad weather didn’t stop them enjoying the day.
The 1st time I met them, they both said that they were shy and didn’t know how to pose …. But they lied to me. Not only were they not shy, I found Emily really hot & sexy yesterday.
