“Less is more” … … something that everyone knows but not too many people can really do it well.

It’s not uncommon a lot of people ask me question like this,
“there aren’t  many interesting items or programsin my wedding rundown, I’m worrying there is not enough scene for you to take photo, is it ok for you?” … …

my answer is:

having more programs on your wedding day doesn’t mean you ‘ll have more beautiful photos. do you think you can relax and enjoy when your wedding day rundown is fully packed, I have seen so many couple that are completely exhausted even before the banquet because of the non-stop rundown. I always found that my most beautiful photos are always taken in those simple, but warm wedding

sam.ryan

I believe that every wedding should be unique, even though you may see the same venue, same hotel, and similar bridal pickup games.

But all the people are different, the dress, the decoration, the family, the light, the smile, the tears are all different, the possibility of photos is just unlimited.

wedding of sam and ryan was early this year,  though a little bit late, it ’s such a beautiful wedding that  I can’t afford not posting their wedding here.

Did you remember sam and ryan? they ‘re the couple that I took the pre-wedding photos at HKU renovation site !!!!

by anticipation or by luck? wedding of winnie and marcus

there is a story behind the following two photos that I ‘d like to share – a story about my photography approach.

It was the wedding of winnie and marcus, around 6:00pm, everyone was taking a rest to prepare for the cocktail. Not many guest at the cocktail area, so I took the time to take some shots of the decoration. After taking a few shots of the (blank) backdrop, I ‘d like to add some elements to it to make it more “alive”. So I set up the camera on tripod and WAIT for something to happen in front of the backdrop. In fact, I was anticipating children running around (it is not uncommon, is it?). After 1-2 min, a waiter walked across and I got the 1st shot below. I love it, better than a blank backdrop and it looked more interesting. After a few min., nothing interesting happened, [......]

wedding of loretta and james

Hi everyone,

a quick update of myself in the 1st two weeks of 2009. The first thing I had in 2009 was : I got a flu !!!!! I was feeling sick and had a very bad cough. I got 6 weddings and pre-wedding shoots in these two weeks and it ‘s a challenge for me to work when I kept coughing all the time. It ‘s getting better and better now, hopes no more cough before the wedding on coming Sunday.

another beautiful wedding I ‘d like to share with you. This is the wedding of Loretta and James on the Christmas Eve. Not a big wedding, but everyone was so nice and friendly on the day.

When I first met James in the morning, my first impression was: this guy really had a very good taste of dressing!!!! Then I learned later that Loretta worked in the fashion industry – and [......]

The groom got sunstroke -
e-session of karen and ben

it rained most of the time in last few weeks, several photo sessions ‘re postponed. When I talked to Ben last week, he told me that he would go ahead the photo session on last Monday (14 July) no matter it rained or not. What a great man !!! So what happened — instead of having a rainy day, we had the hottest and sunny photo session. It was so hot that Ben almost got sunstroke when we finish the first stop at the Wetland Park.

date: 14 July, 2008 locations: Wetland Park, Shek O, Club JJ’s of Grand Hyatt

my fav of the day. I found this red wall inside the visitor center.

look at Ben, he ’s not holding a mobile. He almost got a sunstroke after one hour outdoor shooting. He ’s holding an ice pack to cool himself down

a beautiful wedding
- elaine and jonathan

I was always asked by my wedding couples what color of dress, what decoration, or location will help me to take good wedding photos. My answer is they are not important to me. What makes wedding photos beautiful is the people inside the pic. If you and your friends and families enjoy your wedding day, it would be a very very easy task for me.

On the other hand, I always found very difficult to take good pictures in very busy wedding, all people are in a rush throughout the whole day, mobile phones keep ringing and ringing, etc … ….

Elaine and Jon ’s wedding is very simple — no bridal pickup games, no evening banquet, no big bridal party, but everything is so beautiful !!!!! You always see smiles on their faces.

Having been expecting Kristy and Clement ’s wedding for a long long time. Kristy made the booking with me back in early 2006, almost two years before the wedding !!!

wedding date: 27 Oct, 2007ceremony: St. Margaret ’s Churchreception: the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong

After the church ceremony, we went to the Peak for outdoor shooting. I love this location a lot. Contrary to a popular belief, this photo was not created by Photoshop. We had a real blue sky as the background
